Women's Liberties in Saudi Arabia Compared to America
Liberty is something that the people of America value greatly and have fought for over many centuries. It is an idea that everyone from across the world desires but may not always be able to fully achieve due to inequalities that exist in their own countries. To compare, we can look into the liberties women have in Saudi Arabia and the liberties women have in the United States. Saudi Arabia is a country that is known for its more conservative values which can be viewed as the cause for the oppression of women in the country from gaining equal rights. Women in Saudi Arabia have fewer liberties than women in America because of their government’s opposition of them being able to do certain things, such open their own bank account or freely travel without consent from a male guardian. These are just a few examples of what they are unable to do which demonstrate the lack of liberty that they have when compared to women in America. In the United States, women are able to do just about anything and are not oppressed by the country’s government in ways like women in Saudi Arabia are by theirs. Although women in Saudi Arabia are prohibited from doing many things, they have been recently gaining more liberties as their government has been slowly becoming more accepting of women’s rights. An example of this is their ability to now obtain a driver's license, something that the women in the country have been fighting for many years. Despite the incredibly great amount of liberties we are given in America compared to Saudi Arabia which can make the comparisons between the countries seem drastic, women from both the countries share a similarity due to the social inequality that they together still continue to face. It will always remain as another great issue that should not be ignored despite how much equal rights women are ever given.
I agree with what your saying. Not only are women in other countries gaining right like learning how to drive, they are also being given some, but very limited, voice socially and politically to an extent but not nearly as much as the women in America do but overtime, they might eventually get there as well.
ReplyDeleteI agree that not all countries give the same amount of liberty to females as we do in America. It makes liberty so valuable, those who do have liberty should make the most of it and push for change so that liberty becomes universal. I hope that one day women all over the world can live the same way we do in America.
